Google Algorithm Ranking Factors - The Complete List of 200 Ranking Signals [InfoGraphic]

The Google Ranking Factors in today’s search engine algorithms facilitate how your website’s pages will be placed within the Google search engine results pages (SERPs).

It used to be that methods used for ranking website pages were as simple as placing a few well searched keywords and keyword phrases within your content to find yourself on the first page of Google… those days are GONE!

Now, with the multiple billions of websites competing to find their place in cyberspace, and the continual update of the Google algorithm to filter out sub-par, worthless sites; you will no longer find yourself within the search results pages for strictly having relevant meta tags, a few relevant keyword phrases and a large quantity of inbound links.

There are many other factors at play here to prove your website’s worthiness to the mathematical algorithm Google uses for web page rankings.

Google’s 200+ Algorithm Ranking Signals

Google’s mission – is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Did You Know: Google makes about half-a-dozen changes to the algorithm each week to reflect the way people actually perform searches?

This algorithm that the Google search engine uses has one mission in life, to establish a baseline to compare web pages for their database. This Google algorithm has ranking factors known as signals that are used to establish this starting point.

Google has been on a mission for many years now to tweak and improve its algorithm to provide the Internet queries with top quality results for the end user via the search engine results pages.

They have been working hard to place these relevant and informative website pages within the top of the SERPs with the others further down the line until they prove themselves more useful.

So, what are all these ranking factors that the Google algorithm uses to judge your site?

To begin with, Google has never officially announced their ranking factors to the world. But, it has been confirmed that there are 200 or more ranking signals within their algorithms.

Today Google’s algorithms rely on more than 200 unique signals or “clues” that make it possible to guess what you might really be looking for.

As you can imagine the difficulty of posting 200+ Google ranking signals in one article, so below you will find an infographic created by Single Grain And Backlinko which has made it easy to see and read the ranking factors in one single location.

These two companies collected these 200 factors that Google considers when ranking your site for its search engine results pages. This information was compiled from 100′s of sources, to include SEO blogs and statements made from the Google WebSpam team leader Matt Cutts.

This info-graphic that most likely took weeks or months to create covers the 200 ranking factors of the Google algorithm, which will help bring to light, certain areas of your website to help improve your SEO campaign.

At first glance, the infographic information might seem a bit overwhelming, so here are three factors that will likely have a strong Search Engine Optimization effect on your site.

Title Tag: Target your keywords within your title tag. This title tag is arguably the most important SEO tag for any site. The words placed between the title tags will show up as the click-able link in the search engine results pages (SERP’s) and will also give Google a heads up for determining the topic of your page. Research has shown that pages with targeted keywords in the Title tag perform better in the SERPs than pages without.

Social Proof: Social signals from social media networking sites are playing a large role in today’s rankings war. Google is paying much more attention to the social signals that help indicate proof that your information is worthy. This includes signals such as retweets, Facebook shares and Google+s.

Backlinks: Focusing on building authoritative and quality backlinks coming to your site is also an important factor in the Google algorithms.

Great graphic. Some of these factors may have been reduced in significance due to recent updates. For example, “Hummingbird” dramatically reduced exact match domains’ influence. Very cool, though.
